Painting creates new life. I seek to tell my highest truth through painting. Articulating scenes with solid colors and neat edges. Throughout my career as an artist I've often asked myself what about painting I love the most, some days it is the mixing of beautiful color, sometimes a simple scene in grays and black, finding the simplest way to express a shape or a flower. I love reading about how other artists arrive at their best painting.

Painting is bringing the spiritual to the physical realm. My favorite thing is to go out en plein air painting, painting quickly, usually on a 6 x 9 panel with only palette knives. Getting the feel of the scene, be it a river scene or the beautiful mountains of Colorado and stopping when the painting is still fresh and vivid.

I paint when I am inspired to, and try to do it everyday to stay fresh and upbeat about the painting process. I am trying to incorporate more brushwork into my paintings for a softer edge but find knife painting instantly rewarding for it's spontaneity and directness of purpose.
